LoTRO Lord of the Rings Online The North Downs
Once the sprawling countryside of Cardolan, the North Downs was a fiercely contested land during the Third Age. The scant information regarding the North-Downs presented in the Lord of the Rings novels, allows Turbine to invent grand new scenes, towns, and magnificent structures of the Dunedain of Cardolan that once ruled the land.
Adventurers will explore the Trestlebridge a town guarding the bridge across the dark cleft of Cirth Nur, the gateway to the northern lands. As the launching point for explorations into Angmar, this strategic location will be one of the most contested towns in the coming wars.
Travelers should also stop by the Ruined Watch Tower, one of the remains of the ancient cities that used to populate the North Downs. This fortification is still a gathering place for Rangers. Beware the shades, former denizens of the city surrounding the tower.
After a plague out of Mordor spread across the Barrow surrounding the Dead Spire, exterminating the men who resided there, the Witch-king of Angmar sent evil spirits to the land. There, the roused the bones of the dead. The Barrow has been a place of great evil ever since. Although Tom Bombadil destroyed the Barrow Wight, the land is still home to the undead.
